Morgan Lane has just completed grad school, and has accepted a job at Baylor Industries with the help of her father, who just so happens to be golf buddies with Drake Baylor Sr., CEO. Morgan has lived her 24 years of life under her parents thumbs, and is more than eager to start living life and carving successful career for herself. Drake Baylor Jr. is being groomed to take over as CEO of Baylor Industries upon his father’s retirement. Although he was raised in an affluent household, his formative years were rough, leading to a string of bad decisions, and hard lived years. In order to take over as CEO, his father has given him a set of rules to live by for an indefinite period of time: No drugs, limited alcohol consumption, and absolutely no relationships whatsoever with women-his greatest weakness. If Drake can abstain from those three things, work hard, and gain his father’s trust, he can have the keys to the Kingdome. Drake meets Morgan on her first day at Baylor Industries, and the phrase “love at first sight” doesn’t even come close to describing what is felt between them. Their instant attraction is a magnetic pull that is stronger than either one of them can handle. Now Drake and Morgan are faced with figuring out how to fight for their future together, hoping not to get caught.

VMA 2013 Exclusive: 'Divergent' First Look

Interview with Mia Sheridan, author of ~Leo~

I’m Mia Sheridan and this is my blog! I’m an avid reader, and now writer! of romance and erotic novels. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband who is a police officer and my biggest fan (not necessarily in that order). ;) We have four children here on earth and one in heaven. When I’m not sitting on my couch with my head buried in my Kindle, I can be found writing or doing anything creative from building a patio, to sewing pillows. The wild hairs I get know no bounds. Leo is my debut novel, but my head is swimming with more…

  • Tell us something about you. What means writing for you?

I find that writing is a great way to express myself without having to actually talk about specific issues that I might be dealing with! It can be great therapy. :D But it's also a really great way just to lose yourself in someone else's life. It's kind of the best of both worlds as far as losing yourself and finding yourself!

      • Were you scared about people's reaction when they read your book for the first time?

Oh my goodness, terrified. It's so hard to send a book out into the world because as an author, there's so much of yourself in it. But to be honest, I had no idea that so many people would read it at all. So it was unexpected and slightly difficult too. I'm still getting used to it!

          • Who is your favorite author and which is your favorite book? Can you recommend us a book?

Hmmm… in the genre? I really love Colleen Hoover and I think that "Losing Hope," is beautiful and brilliant as is "Hopeless."

              • Tell us something about your series, Sign of Love. How would you describe it?

The Sign of Love series will have a book based on each of the twelve astrological signs. I thought it would be really interesting to take a character with the innate characteristics of a sign and throw some life events at them that would have them veer off the path that they would naturally take. How would they fight to return to who they were meant to be? What would that look like? So each book will explore that question. ;)

                  • Is it hard being an author?

Sometimes. I think it's like any other job that you love. You have good days where everything flows, and bad days where you're frustrated and feel like giving up!

                      • Which book do you wish you could have written?

The Game of Thrones series is absolutely phenomenal. I have NO idea how he keeps all of his characters and stories within stories straight. A true master!

                          • If you were a supernatural creature, which creature would you be?

One whose power was to halt time! I could come up with all kinds of cool things to do with that!

                              • Does music inspire you? What kind of music do you like to listen?

Absolutely! I have a playlist for every book and listen to it constantly while writing.

                                  • Do you have another project in your mind?

I do! I actually have my next storyline in mind but I need to decide which sign makes the most sense for my character. :)

                                      • Would you like to say something to your readers?

Just how much I appreciate every single one. I have met the COOLEST people through this experience and it's so heartwarming to connect to awesome readers all over the world – truly amazing!

Thank you so, so much Mrs. Mia for the interview! What do you think guys? Have you read Leo?

~Review~ Leo's Chance by Mia Sheridan

The follow-up to Leo, the USA Today bestselling novel by Mia Sheridan.

Does everyone deserve a second chance? Even someone who lies and deceives to get it?

Do we all have a second chance coming? Even if we play a part in our own destruction?

How hard would you fight to have a second chance at love? A second chance at life? Another chance to tell your own story?

Every love story has two sides. Evie told hers. This time it's Leo's chance.

First of all I want to thank you Mrs. Mia for giving me the opportunity of reading your book. Leo's Chance was simply amazing. This book can't be described in words. It was even better than Leo because in this book you see how really broken is Leo.

Evie and Leo's story is a really special story. It's sad and they had a very harsh childhood, but they found their way and their love never died. And now when they are finally together, Leo can't tell who he really is because he isn't prepared. He had a really hard life, especially with his foster mother. Lauren is a bitch and people like her must be beaten up and thrown into a gap. They don't have a place on this planet. They ruin other people's lives.

I'm so, so, so sorry for Leo because that bitch ruined his life. He only wanted to be loved by someone and that bitch took advantage of him! I hate, hate, hate her so, so, so much!!!

I didn't like that Leo didn't tell the truth. He was scared and he was afraid that he might lose Evie, but I'm sure she would forgive him, like she did everytime. Their love was too strong and she loved him too much to not forgive him and to not choose him. They were like meant to be together.

“You're jealous of a bird?" she asks.
"What? No!" I snap. I just don’t think I like peacocks very much.
"You're jealous of a bird," she says, a glint of amusement coming into her eyes. She glances back at her phone. "He IS gorgeous. Goddddd, soooo gorgeous," she moans out the words, throwing her head back.

"Hilarious," I say, trying not to smile now at my own ridiculousness. "That bird was trying to move in on my territory. I know a brazen male threat when I see one.”

They are perfect together and they have their happy ever after. Leo loves Evie so much and he want the best for her. Now when he is director in his father's company/ his company, he want Evie to have all that she ever wanted. But she only wants him. And that tattoo from Leo's back, he's Evie's loyal lion and I'm so sorry that they had to have a life which was too rough with the both of them. They deserve to be happy and in the end, they finally found their happiness. And I'm happy because Leo has fought for Evie.

“And it’s my hope that you will see, that I fought for you because you’re worth fighting for.”

Being in Leo's/Jake's head is very interesting. When I read Leo, I didn't understand Leo very well, but now, when I found out what's in his mind and how much he really suffered, I understand him better and I know how hard was for him to hide the truth and to confront his life. This book is a MUST READ for everyone because those things happens in life. Leo's Chance is an amazing book an I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. Thank you again, Mrs. Mia.
                                        What do you think?

Interview with Monica James, author of ~I Surrender~

Monica James spent her youth devouring the works of Anne Rice, William Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson. Listening to the likes of Elvis to Fiona Apple and everything in between has been her inspirational tool to write. Her varied musical and literary tastes have shaped her into the writer she has become. Monica partook in extra Literature and Writing studies in High School. She studied a Bachelor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at La Trobe University Victoria, Australia, majoring in Philosophy and Cinema Studies for three years. When she is not writing she is running her own business, but always finds a balance between the two. Monica enjoys reading honest, heartfelt and turbulent stories that leave an imprint on her. She put pen to paper because she wanted to write a book that she would want to read. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, hopeful others enjoy reading about the world as she sees it.
Tell us something about you. What means writing for you?

Well, I am a humbled girl from Australia, who is incredibly grateful to be doing an interview with someone halfway across the world. I studied Philosophy and Literature at University and I loved it. I loved reading the philosophies of Aristotle, Plato and Nietzsche because their writings are simply beautiful. So I guess in a way, these philosophers inspired me to follow my dream, and take a chance to start writing seriously.
Writing means everything to me- corny, but true. And I truly feel so blessed because it comes naturally to me, and I can think of nothing better than getting lost in my stories. I have always written, and whether it is in the form of quotes or poems or novels, I just love how you can express what is going on in your head by putting pen to paper.

Were you scared about people's reaction when they read your book for the first time?

I was petrified! Reading is so subjective, which is what I love about it! But when it comes to your own work, it’s a whole different ballgame! I was excited to share Jasper and Ava with the world, but as soon as the arc’s were sent out, I went into meltdown mode. I am so grateful to my readers, and I just love seeing Jasper and Ava through their eyes when I chat to them, or read reviews-it’s just surreal.

Who is your favorite author and which is your favorite book? Can you recommend us a book?

I have so many it is actually beyond ridiculous. I love the classics though, so works by William Shakespeare, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens are works I revisit often.  But if I am in the mood for a bit of horror, I love reading Anne Rice and Poppy Z Brite. And then of course I love all the amazing talented authors such as Colleen Hoover, Tammara Webber, S.C Stephens, Jessica Sorensen, Sylvia Day, Gena Showalter etc.
But if I had to choose one; it would be Dr. Seuss lol
Recommend a book... gee, that’s hard. At the moment I really love anything by Gena Showalter.

Tell us something about your book, I Surrender. How would you describe it?

I love this question. I wanted I Surrender to be real and raw. I didn’t want it to boy meets girl, they fall in love by page 50, and live happily ever after, because that’s not how life is. Life is challenging, and sometimes it just stinks. But all the obstacles we overcome make us better people, and I see every situation, whether good or bad, as a learning experience.
I Surrender is my explanation on the philosophy of life and love, pleasure and pain, and how they all intertwine so closely, that sometimes, the line blurs between them.  I want my readers to love and hate, cry and laugh, curse and praise my characters, just as they would real people. I hope to take them on an emotional rollercoaster, and at the end of it, be breathless for more.

Is it hard being an author?

Some days it is, but most, it’s not. I love getting in my zone, and creating a story that one day, the world may get to read. I love the challenge writing presents, and it’s such a reward to hear people raving, and sometimes ranting about your work. My dreams have come true because of amazing people all over the world welcoming my characters into their homes.

Which book do you wish you could have written?

                                        That’s a good question. I don’t know LOL...

If you were a supernatural creature, which creature would you be?

Definitely a vampire. The reason being, I write all night, and sleep all day, so technically I have some aspects of the vampire lifestyle. The whole not staying in the sun thing would be an issue, so maybe I could be some hybrid breed that could go out in the daytime, not have to drink blood, but I still could live forever! The vampires in J.R. Ward’s books are amazing, so I want to be one of them :)

Does music inspire you? What kind of music do you like to listen?

I like to write while listening to music, as music in most circumstances helps me get into a certain frame, and allows me to get lost in my writing. I listen to certain artists/songs, sometimes on a loop to help me get into the ‘zone’.
If the song I am listening to helps me draw out inspiration for a certain scene/character etc, then I will listen to it continuously until I have figured out what about that particular song has drawn me in.
I listen to anything! At the moment I am really into The Killers.

Do you have another project in your mind?

Yes, I do. I am in the process of writing something new and fresh, and I really can’t wait to share it with you!

Would you like to say something to your readers?

You guys mean everything to me. Without you all, I wouldn’t be where I am now. It’s because of your enthusiasm and loyalty that I am able to do what I love, and for that, I will forever be grateful to each and every one of you. And the only way I can repay you, is to continue writing stories I hope you will love.
Thanks for this. It was fun x

What do you think guys? I just love her answers <3 Don't forget to add I Surrender on Goodreads!
Thanks for stopping by! You're the best!

Returning home to Los Angeles was never going to be easy for Ava. Her heart has been shattered to smithereens and she’s convinced it’ll never heal. Or, so she thought.

                                        Enter Jasper White.

Unbeknown to Ava, Jasper White will change her life forever.

The attraction is instantaneous which troubles Ava, who has sworn off men indefinitely. But, she is finding resisting Jasper, with his tousled bedroom hair and piercing cerulean eyes, harder than she ever imagined. And that’s because Jasper knows what he wants, and he wants Ava.

But, can Ava surrender to her feelings for the one man who compels her to love again? Because, what happens if love does not triumph all? What happens if love isn’t enough?
Who wants to read it?? I surely do! And here is my fan-art:

                                        ~Review~ Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

I love music. LOVE music. Namely The Avett Brothers, Lumineers, Pink, Eminem. I have eclectic taste? If you have any recommendations, send them my way!

I'm addicted to diet pepsi and could tell you in a taste-test which restaurant it came from. It's a serious addiction, I tell you.

I get stoked whenever I get a message from goodreads saying I have a new friend request...so request me, dangit!

This book is really amazing! The story is so beautiful, happy and sad in the same time and I think this is the only book which took me so many tears. If you want to read a book with a true story and which puts you on thoughts, you should read Slammed. The book is so powerful tat even if you aren't so sensible, you would definitely cry. It's too beautiful and too well written.

Lake and Will's story is strong, sad and happy in the same time. It's not just a love story. It's about life and how unfair could it be. This book is a life lesson and you MUST READ IT! Just after a few minutes since they've met, between Lake and Will was a huge attraction. They couldn't resist, but then something keeps them apart.

They both were broken, they both had a sad story. Will was orphan and he had to take care of his little brother Caulder. Their parents died in a car accident and they only had each other. Caulder was Will's priority but the life taught him something else. You never, ever should ignore your heart.

“So you keep your ocean, I'll take the Lake.”

Lake was also broken. Her father died and now is just her, her brother and her mother. When she met Will, she fell in love with him and she needed him in her life. Even if her mother was always there with her, she just wanted to be loved. Her mother was awesome and she loved her kids with all of her heart. She wanted the best for them and they wanted her to sstay longer with them because they needed her.

                                        “To my babies,

Merry Christmas. I'm sorry if these letters have caught you both by surprise. There is just so much more I have to say. I know you thought I was done giving advice, but I couldn't leave without reiterating a few things in writing. You may not relate to these things now, but someday you will. I wasn't able to be around forever, but I hope that my words can be.

-Don't stop making basagna. Basagna is good. Wait until a day when there is no bad news, and bake a damn basagna.

-Find a balance between head and heart. Hopefully you've found that Lake, and you can help Kel sort it out when he gets to that point.

-Push your boundaries, that's what they're there for.

-I'm stealing this snippet from your favorite band, Lake. "Always remember there is nothing worth sharing, like the love that let us share our name."

-Don't take life too seriously. Punch it in the face when it needs a good hit. Laugh at it.

-And Laugh a lot. Never go a day without laughing at least once.

-Never judge others. You both know good and well how unexpected events can change who a person is. Always keep that in mind. You never know what someone else is experiencing within their own life.

-Question everything. Your love, your religion, your passions. If you don't have questions, you'll never find answers.

-Be accepting. Of everything. People's differences, their similarities, their choices, their personalities. Sometimes it takes a variety to make a good collection. The same goes for people.

-Choose your battles, but don't choose very many.

-Keep an open mind; it's the only way new things can get in.

-And last but not least, not the tiniest bit least. Never regret.

Thank you both for giving me the best years of my life.

                                        Especially the last one.

                                        Love,

                                        Mom”

Kel and Caulder were so sweet and they had each other. They became best friends since they saw each other and maybe if they didn't exist, Will and Lake wouldn't be together. They were just amazing.

I liked this book because it had poetry. And in every poetry was a story.

I want to talk a little bit about the characters. I'll start with Eddie because she was my favorite character. She was a real frien for Lake and she was there with her when Lake needed her. She was so funny and those characters are very important in a book.

Javi was an asshole and he deserved what Will has done to him, even if after that he had to move.

Nick was nice, but was a little stupid, but he respected Lake's decisions.

Gavin was nice and he was on Lake's side, even he didn't appear very much in the book.

And now I want to talk about Lake and Will's love story. Because is a little (very) complicated :)

They loved each other and they knew that they can't be together, but it didn't change anything because their love was still there. They tried to be friends, but they couldn't because there was always a moment when they kissed and I'm so sad because those moments weren't so frequent. Anyway, when they weren't together, they had a lot of troubles. But even if the life was harsh with them, they find a way to go through it and they have each other and their little brothers. They were a family.

                                        “I got schooled this year
                                        by
                                        a
                                        boy.

A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
And he taught me the most important thing of all...

                                        To put the emphasis
                                        On life .”

You must read this book because it's amazing. One of the best books I've read this year. And if you think that your life is hard, then think that in this world are thousands of people with a harder life than yours and they don't complain.

“Question everything. Your love, your religion, your passion. If you don't have questions, you'll never find answers.”
